Sorrow and the Saint

June 27, 2016 “As  a saint of God, my attitude toward sorrow and difficulty should not be to ask that they be prevented, but to ask that God protect me so that I may remain what He created me to be, in spite of all my fires of sorrow. Our Lord received Himself, accepting His position and realizing His purpose, in the midst of the fire of sorrow. He was saved not   from   the hour, but   out of   the hour.” -My Utmost For His Highest Oswald Chambers …what shall I say? "Father, save Me from this hour"?  But for this purpose I came to this hour. "Father, glorify Your name." —J ohn 12:27-28      Oh, but the real Fires of Sorrow comes later, after this life is over, after the wheat is separated eternally from the chaff.  The real Fires of Sorrow are unknown to us who walk the earth with quickened flesh. While we live and breathe, the tides of misery go in and out.  ("This too, shall pass.")...
June 15, 2016 LETTING YOUR FLAG TOUCH THE GROUND     You can keep your flag from touching the ground during your time here on earth, but you must understand one thing: all flags will be desecrated when God’s Kingdom comes. All crowns will be crushed, and perhaps too those that wear them. The threshing floor will come alive. The furnace will flare up as the dead wood of barren trees are consumed.  The pride of nations, as well the nations themselves, will become vanity before the gates of Heaven. The pride of life, the pride on which the nations of men are built, will vanish before the King of Glory like the mist of morning at high noon or the phantasmagoria of unquiet dreams after the sleeper has awakened.

The Desires of Your Heart

June 10, 2016      So wrote the psalmist. But I think this one ought to have an asterisk and some fine print to go with it at the bottom of the page. If the desires of your carnal selfish heart are by process of alchemy transformed from profane lead into holy gold, or from something that does not please God into something that pleases Him very much, the desires of your heart will be granted to you. A Scripture promise. The arc words of The Princess Bride  book and film were, famously, "As you wish."       Why did that farm boy Westley never once complain about how Buttercup treated him like her personal slave? Did he enjoy the degradation? Did he crave the thankless servitude? Why was he so faithful to her for all those years? There came a time that whenever Westley said, "As you wish" in reply to one of Buttercup's commands, in his heart he saying "I love you." If The Princess Bride is a movie that has a place in your heart (and ...

It's Supposed To Hurt

June 5th, 2016 No one can make you hurt like the lover of your soul. No one else but God could love you and know you so completely to make this possible.  There are times when I chafe under the easy yoke and despair that the light burden is too heavy for me to bear. In my heart I have entered into covenant with God and I intend to see it through to whatever end He has planned for me, even if it means surrendering the one thing my heart desires more than anything else. It breaks my heart to do so. Dying to self was never intended to be a pleasant undertaking. Putting to death even the most natural of human desires for the sake of the Kingdom is indeed a crucifixion. It's supposed to hurt.
